How can you save money while homeschooling?

There are a lot of ways that you can lower your costs as a homeschooling parent. From shopping sales, to buying second hand to lifestyle and family choices, there are lots of ways to make homeschooling more affordable.
Last week I did a whole video breaking down my budget... and that was my max budget. I usually spend less than that, thanks to a few great money saving tips.
I’m sharing my best money saving secrets that help make homeschooling more affordable!
Lifestyle - Lifestyle is one of the biggest things that you can adapt to make homeschooling affordable. And sometimes that comes with making big decisions. A smaller house, a smaller vehicle, no fancy clothes, etc these all add up to make living on a single income possible.
Side Hustle - Have a side hustle that brings in even a little money every month can make a huge impact on your homeschooling budget.
Prioritize- Deciding where to put your homeschool budget is just as important as what to budget for. Focus more budget on areas that you need more support to teach, for example Math.
School supply stock up - Use the back-to-school sales to stock up on a variety of necessary supplies like pencils, pens, paper, art supplies, etc. Markers are often a quarter of the price in August that they are in November.
Used book store - Take advantage of second hand! A used book store can be a great way to find the books you need for a fraction of the costs. On the same line, sometimes you can find used homeschool curriculum sales to save more.
Library- Don't forget about the library. From books to events to cool technologies like 3D printers, libraries offer so many feature free of charge.
Membership - Buying a membership might seem like a big cost, but it can be a great option for cheap field trips if you invest in the right membership for your family.
Cheaper activities - Pick extra-curricular classes that have lower entry prices. Jiu Jitsu classes are much cheaper than hockey and the equipment is cheaper too. Shop around for activities that fit within your budget.
No competitive - Stick to recreational classes over competitive classes. You'll save a ton and there's little evidence that competition at a young age leads to an advantage. Save the competition until they are older.
Get on mailing lists - got a company that you love? Get on their mailing list and wait for a great sale to buy your annual curriculum.
Homeschooling doesn't have to costs an arm and leg! There are lots of ways to save money and make it more affordable.
